Kindle Unlimited and Final Days of First Edition Paperback!

Hello! It’s been a while, I know. Summer tends to pull me away. I actually started riding my bike again! It was a wonderful summer for me, and I hope yours was as well. Happy Fall!

So, there are two bits of news. The first is that ….finally…. I’ve enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. This means if you’re a subscriber, you can download and read THE HARMONY OF ISIS for free. This also means the ebook is available through the Amazon Prime program as well, where you can borrow it for free. Don’t worry, I get a royalty. 🙂

The Harmony of Isis

If you’d rather read a short story, THE PATH OF NEPHTHYS is a companion story to THE HARMONY OF ISIS. After October 13, THE PATH OF NEPHTHYS will not be in Kindle Unlimited, so read it while it’s free!

The Path of Nephthys

Sometime soon, I will be removing THE HARMONY OF ISIS from sale, paperback or ebook. The second edition will be titled THE HARMONY, and will have revised content and cover. So, for anyone wishing a copy of the First Edition, get it now or forever search for a collectible copy! Here’s the link to the paperback version:

Now, I’m headed back to chores and then (hopefully!) working on the sequel. For the moment, it’s titled, THE NET. With the sound of rain falling lightly and some silly movie on in the background, I hope to accomplish a lot this evening. Let’s see! 🙂

A New Review!

It’s so exciting to get a review. Along with most other authors, I’m sure, I check my Amazon page almost daily, and to discover a new review there brings a jolt of omgosh! Eeee! You go to look at it and your eyes speed through it. You can’t read it fast enough, and every word is like a bell, ringing.

Amazon doesn’t want friends or family to post reviews, and will remove them if they think there is an abuse of their policy. So, on top of the thrill of getting any feedback at all, the fact that it comes from a complete stranger brings a sense of validation for all the countless hours spent on writing the book.

My most recent review was my lowest-starred rating – a three, and that’s a-ok with me. The reviewer explained the reasoning (not their typical genre) and then, oh, manna to my ears, said,

“Sit back, relax, and enjoy the quality of the writing.”

The full snippet after gleaning the most positive comments is:

“The Harmony of Isis,” [is] not paranormal … maybe ‘surreal’ is a better moniker. … There’s a metaphysical layer to the whole narrative [and] she absolutely captures the dream-like sing-song almost-intangible nature required by the world she has constructed.

Have a look at “The Harmony of Isis.” … You’ll enjoy the world that Walter has meticulously constructed for her character(s) [and] the carefully textured metaphysical world – as well as the twining together of the two…distinct story threads.

…Sit back, relax, and enjoy the quality of the writing.”

So, thank you, kind stranger, for: a) reading my story; b) taking the time to write and post what you thought of it, and c) making my day with smiles, stars and sparkles! Fantastic!

The Harmony of Isis ~ Chosen as Goodreads group “Author Promo Co-op” Book of the Month: Historical Fiction!

Hello everyone!
I’m thrilled that my book, The Harmony of Isis, was chosen as the Book of the Month for Historical Fiction by the Goodreads “Author Promo Co-op” Group. If you enjoy digging your feet into ancient sands, this blend of history and fantasy will pull you in.

Museum curator Maggie learns, through a series of lucid dreams, the true story of Egyptian goddess Isis, her husband Osirius, and his wicked rival, Typhon. Maggie learns that she is a “harmony” chosen to help Isis reunite with Osirius. This time-jumping tale brings life to a long-neglected part of human history with a vivid and seamless window into the past.

I’m so excited that Jessica Wren Fiction reviewed my book, The Harmony of Isis, and that she liked it!

Jessica Wren Fiction

More and more, I am beginning to enjoy reading historical fiction. I am learning a lot. In a 10th grade World History class, I learned about Ancient Egypt and the Pharaoh, but never much beyond that, Until reading The Harmony of Isis, it was difficult to think of ancient civilizations in anything other than abstract terms. Walter, an anthropologist by trade, brought to life the world of the Pharaoh and ancient Egypt in her gorgeously woven tapestry of a tale that juxtaposes the ancient with the modern, the light with the darkness, and the good with the evil. She humanizes people whom we are only used to seeing in heiroglyphic drawings by making them “real” people with pain, fear, joy, jealousy, good, and evil.

Isis (later revered as a goddess) is singing a powerful “song” in order to locate the remains of her dead husband, Osirius, who had been murdered…
